Program:
Issues in ethical practice facing SLPs will be reviewed following a review of foundational knowledge elements. Real scenarios involving ethical dilemmas will be discussed. Articles related to ethical practice will be dissected to broaden our use of varied lenses in evaluating situational issues.

Objectives:
Following this presentation, participants will be able to:
- State at least one solution for dealing with scenarios that challenge professional ethics. State three benefits of nasal breathing.
- Apply ASHA Code of Ethics (2016) principles to challenges within a variety of practice settings including school based and medical settings across the spectrum of care.
About our Speakers:
Ilene S. Ross has worked over 40 years in the public school setting with sprinkles of private practice and clinical work. She has been an ASHA member throughout her career. She has taken a more active role in ISHA by joining the Ethics Education Committee and writing articles for The Voice, ISHA’s quarterly newsletter. Currently, Ilene is working at a middle school for the Community Unit School District 95 in Lake Zurich, IL.
Michelle Zemsky Dineen is a clinician and interdisciplinary manager with experience in a variety of medical settings from acute care through outpatient. She has taught at local universities and presented at the state and national level for ISHA and ASHA. She is an active volunteer in ISHA with a passion for promoting ethics awareness. Michelle is a doctoral student in Interprofessional Healthcare Studies at Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago.

This course is offered for .2 ASHA CEUs (professional area, intermediate level).
An annual ASHA CE Registry fee is required to register ASHA CEUs. ASHA CE Registry fees are paid directly to the ASHA National Office. To register CEUs with ASHA, you must complete a CE participant form, turn it in at the time of the activity, and pay the ASHA CE Registry fee. ASHA CEUs are awarded ONLY AFTER receipt of the CE Participant Form AND payment of the Registry fee.
Program Completion Requirements:
Participants are expected to be present for the entire program. Individuals who are not present for the full program will not be recommended for ASHA CEUs. No partial credit will be provided.
