This course will provide a clinical roadmap for the speech-language pathologist working with transgender and gender expansive clients. A review of evidence-based practice will be included with opportunities for the learner to apply knowledge gained through case-based learning. |

Learning Objectives:
The participants will:
- Discuss cultural competency and its importance when considering work with the transgender and gender
diverse client. - Describe and outline the comprehensive voice and communication assessment used for this client
population. - Describe and demonstrate at least three techniques successful in targeting voice and communication used in
gender affirming services. - Summarize current research in the area of voice and communication for the transgender and gender diverse
client. - List and describe a potential framework for motor learning in the area of gender affirming voice care.
This program is offered for .3 ASHA CEUs (Intermediate level)
An annual ASHA CE Registry fee is required to register ASHA CEUs. ASHA CE Registry fees are paid directly to the ASHA National Office. To register CEUs with ASHA, you must complete a CE participant form, turn it in at the time of the activity, and pay the ASHA CE Registry fee. ASHA CEUs are awarded ONLY AFTER receipt of the CE Participant Form AND payment of the Registry fee.

About Our Speaker(s)
NATHAN WALLER SLPD, CCC-SLP, MM is an associate clinical professor at Northwestern University and Assistant Director of the Center for Audiology, Speech, Language and Learning. Dr. Waller is a licensed speech- language pathologist who specializes in the treatment of voice and upper airway disorders. A professionally trained singer and former chorus director, Dr. Waller is interested in the diagnoses and treatment of voice disorders in both singers and non-singers. Beyond working in the area of voice and upper airway disorders, he has a special interest in transgender and gender expansive voice/communication therapy.
