Who We Are
Our organization is an area group of the Illinois Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ISHA). Most of our over 100 NSSLA members are speech and language pathologists, though audiologists and speech-language pathology assistants are also welcome to join. In addition, nonmembers are welcome to attend meetings. Our meeting topics frequently are of interest to parents, educators, psychologists, social workers, and occupational and physical therapists.
Goals
The primary goal of our organization is to present continuing education opportunities in order to provide current information and research related to the practice of speech-language pathology and audiology. The meetings also offer members the ability to network with other speech-language pathologists and audiologists in the north suburban area of Chicago. As a service to our members, our organization works with ISHA to facilitate the provision of at least 12 contact hours per year toward Illinois State Licensure and ASHA CEUs. This is equivalent to 1.2 CEUs.
It is our goal to offer workshops on a wide range of topics in order to meet the needs and interests of members who work in a variety of settings and with varying age groups. Workshops are offered on weekday evenings and weekend mornings in order to accommodate the schedules of our members.
