2011-2012
We hope that you all had a wonderful summer and welcome you back to another stimulating programming year with NSSLA! We are excited about the 2011-12 Programs and believe they will offer us all new insights into the topics to be covered. The NSSLA Board has been hard at work developing a full slate of presentations, including four short courses (for a total of 1.0 AHSA CEUs) and our second annual day long course to be held in March at Maggianos! The full list of programs will be posted shortly.
Many of the topics to be covered this year were taken from your suggestions and will include nasality and oral motor issues, behavioral issues in children with language disorders, executive functioning, and our first presentation of the year to be held on September 15th, a panel presentation which will examine a number of strategies for working with children with hearing impairments in the school setting. Our panel of experts, Judy Elkayam, Melissa Wells, Mary Cassin, and Linda Mathias Kaskel, has many years of experience working with children with hearing impairments in an academic setting, including work with LICA (Low Incidence Cooperative Agreement). The 2011-2012 NSSLA Membership Form is also now available below. Please complete it and send it to our Treasurer, Connie Schoen, with your membership dues. Remember that we cannot accept payment at the Northbrook Public Library so your dues must be received before you attend your first presentation. Also, after January 1st, only members whose dues have been paid will continue to receive emails from NSSLA. All information will continue to be posted on this website and on our Facebook page.
We would like to thank the Board members who have volunteered many hours organizing these programs. We appreciate your willingness to share your time and expertise with your colleagues.
