This workshop provided research on language intervention for adolescents and described specific strategies and activities for supporting adolescents in the development of vocabulary, complex syntax, and perspective taking. Activities were presented for use by SLPs in schools or private settings. |

About Our Speaker(s)
Julie Smith, MS, CCC-SLP received a bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders from Augustana College and a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Purdue University. She has worked as a school-based speech-language pathologist for 15 years, most of that time at New Trier High School. She has presented nationally at the Social Thinking Global Provider’s Conference and locally at the North Suburban Special Education Cooperative regarding her work with students and in collaboration with teachers to support language and social thinking competencies.
