Learning Objectives:
The participants will:
- Identify a framework for treatment planning of fluency cases.
- Describe and demonstrate at least five successful techniques working with fluency disorders in young children.
- Implement at least three-five strategies for treatment of school-age children, teens, and adults with cluttering,
atypical disfluencies, and stuttering diagnoses.
This program is offered for .3 ASHA CEUs (Intermediate level)
An annual ASHA CE Registry fee is required to register ASHA CEUs. ASHA CE Registry fees are paid directly to the ASHA National Office. To register CEUs with ASHA, you must complete a CE participant form, turn it in at the time of the activity, and pay the ASHA CE Registry fee. ASHA CEUs are awarded ONLY AFTER receipt of the CE Participant Form AND payment of the Registry fee.

Kristin Chmela spends the majority of her time working with individuals of all ages with fluency disorders at the Chmela Fluency Center in the suburban Chicago area. She is co-founder and co-director of Camp Shout Out, a therapeutic program for school-age children who stutter and a hands-on training opportunity for professionals and graduate students. Kristin was former Chair of the American Board of Fluency and Fluency Disorders and collaborated extensively with the Stuttering Foundation on training videos, conferences, and publications. She provides training workshops across the globe and is lead author of two books focused on helping school-age children who stutter. Kristin has completed 400 total hours of training in yoga and several mindfulness training programs. Kristin believes all can choose to continue evolving as communicators.
